Every day we get feedback from our users and, as a lot of you have the same
type of queries, we've put together answers to some of your most frequently
asked questions.
This site is currently FREE to advertise until further notice...YES FREE!!!
This includes three photo attachments and links to your web and email addresses.
Why should I register?
We advise you to register if you wish to use the full benefits and features
on Classifieds Barbados. By registering, you can place adverts, print and
save searched ads (with photos), receive site updates and more.
How do I Register?
Select Register (on the header bar near the top of your screen). You'll
be taken straight to our Registration page where you select either Commercial
or Private Registration.
Which registration form should I complete?
If you are using the site for Commercial use on behalf of a business, please
register a Commercial account. If you are a Private individual or seller,
please register a Private account. When placing an ad - the forms are specific
to the type of advertiser and also, the browser can sort their view by either
Commercial or Private adverts. Finally, complete your log in and contact
details. Once the fields in these sections have been filled in correctly,
click on the grey 'REGISTER' button. You will be sent an email, which will
confirm your details and your successful registration.
Can I register both types of account - Private and Commercial?
You can register as many accounts of either type as you want but remember,
you are only permitted one registered account per email address.
Is this information secure?
Your name, home / work phone number and address are details that we keep
only in case we need to contact you (in order to clarify your ad text for
example). This personal information will not appear online unless you request
it.
Can I register from abroad?
Registrations from abroad can be accepted in the same way as Barbadian
registrations. On the registration form, select 'Other Location' from the
Location/Parish drop down field in your Contact Details section. You can
then put in a non-Barbadian landline number for registration purposes. However,
please note that we cannot accept adverts which are not beneficial and targeted
for the Barbadian community and tourism sector within Barbados.
Can I change my registration details?
Yes, should you wish to change any of your registered details, including
your password, you can do so at anytime. Simply fill in your log in details
and click 'change registration details' at the bottom of the log in form.
We advice you to keep your registration details up to date. This is important
for placing adverts and receiving updates on our services.
Once you have registered, you only need to log in on subsequent visits
to the site, as the website recognises you and your personal settings. Only
use the 'remember me' facility if you are the sole user of the machine (not
if you are on someone else's machine or in an Internet café). To
log in, click on the Log In link in the header tool bar at the top right
hand corner of your screen and you'll be taken to the Log in box.
Log Out
The log out function is in the header of the tool bar - this allows you
to end your session. This will ensure that anyone else using your machine
cannot access your Classifieds Barbados features - unless, the 'remember
me' facility is enabled, to disable this feature, log in again with the
'remember me' option unchecked.
How do I place an ad?
Start by selecting 'Place an ad' from the navigation bar at the top of
the screen. You will be prompted to register and/or log in if you haven't
already done so. You will be taken through three screens with simple to
complete forms.
Form 1 : Package Type
You select from a choice of three package types varying in amount of words in your ad, duration your advert will run and the price. Form 2: Category/Sub-Category & Wanted/Offered
Simply scroll down the selection box for the most relevant category and sub-category to your advert and highlight your selection. All choices will appear in alphabetical order. Unfortunately it is not possible to have a classification for absolutely every item - we would have thousands! If you cannot find an appropriate sub-section for your advert, choose 'all others' within the correct category and we will endeavor to create a sub-category if necessary. At the bottom of this form is the 'Wanted/Offered' selection. Please choose
the relevant option. If you are advertising a product, service or information,
select 'Offered'. If you are looking for a specific advert, select 'Wanted'.
Form 3: Contact Info & Details of Ad
Not all the information boxes are required fields but the more information you include, the easier the browser can find your ad using an 'advanced search'. Should you not include all the specific fields, when the browser searches, your ad will appear at the bottom of the view list. We have included a character counter to indicate how many words you have left. At the end of the process, you will see a confirmation screen with an order number. Your advert will now be sent to the Editor for approval. We endeavor to approve your advert within 24 hours from posting. Once your ad has been approved, you will receive a confirmation email to say your advert is now live online. If for a particular reason, your advert is not approved, the Editor will
email you accordingly to explain their reasoning.
How many ad's can I place?
As many as you want! And it's FREE to advertise until further notice! You can
sell several items within the text of a single advert, if this is the case,
do not fill in the 'item price' at the bottom of the form.
Can I have a photo with my ad?
Yes. You can have up to 3 photos per ad. This could include your company
logo. The first picture you upload will appear as the thumbnail in the search
results. For the browser to view all three photos, they must select your
advert from the search results.
How do I put a photo/attachment online?
You will find the photo upload feature as you are progressing through the
ad placement flow on Form 3. Simply click on the 'browse' photo button and
source your file and upload. Although the system will convert your attachment
to the required format, it speeds up the upload process if your image files
are at the preferred size of 440 pixels width in JPG format.
Where can I check the details of my ad?
Click on 'My Ads' on the navigation bar at the top of any page. Here, you'll
see a copy of all ads you've placed. Select the specific ad you wish to
check and click 'preview ad' from the options at the bottom of the table.
Here you will also be able to view your uploaded images. Should you preview
your ad and wish to change the details, select 'edit ad' from the options below.
If you can't find your ad on-line, this is for two reasons. One, it is
waiting for the Editor's approval. We will endeavor to approve your ad within
24 hours from posting. Two, it has been viewed by the Editor and has been
disqualified. In such case, you will receive an email from the Editor explaining
why we have taken this action.
How will I know if my advert is about to expire or has expired?
You can check the progress of your adverts expiry date within 'My Ads'
located in the main tool bar at the top. You will receive a notification
email to inform you your ad has expired shortly after.
How do I renew my ad after it has expired?
To renew an advert you've previously placed on-line, click on 'My Ads'
on the navigation bar at the top of any page. Here, you'll see a copy of
all ads you've placed. Select the specific ad you wish to renew and select
'renew ad' from the options at the bottom of the table.
The advert will run again for your original specified duration. If you
want to change the ad's renewal duration or type of ad, select 'edit ad'
where you can change your ad's details. If you wish to change the category
or subcategory, again select 'edit ad' and you can move your ad to another
section within the site.
Will my advert appear live online immediately?
If there are no text or image changes, your advert will automatically appear
online. Should you make changes, the Editor will need to approve the ad
in the normal way.
To edit an advert you've previously placed on-line, click on 'My Ads' on
the navigation bar at the top of any page. Here, you'll see a copy of all
ads you've placed. Select the specific ad you wish to edit and click 'edit
ad' from the options tabs at the bottom of the table.
The advert will run again for your original specified duration. If you
want to change the ad's renewal duration or type of ad, select 'edit ad'
where you can change your ad's details. If you wish to change the category
or subcategory, again select 'edit ad' and you can move your ad to another
section within the site.
To stop or delete an advert you've previously placed on-line, click on
'My Ads' on the navigation bar at the top of any page. Here, you'll see
a copy of all ads you've placed. Select the specific ad you wish to stop
from appearing on-line, or to delete from the 'My Ad's' table, simply click
'delete ad' from the options at the bottom of the table. Your ad will deleted.
How can I request a 'top ad'?
Simple, place a standard ad and then fill out the 'Request a Top Ad' form.
You can find this form by clicking 'create a top ad' located in the 'Top
Ad' columns on the right-hand-side of all pages or by selecting the 'advertise
here' box advert. Please remember to quote your order number when requesting
a 'Top Ad'.
Please note, being FREE, we will create these on a first come, first serve
basis and selected at the Editors discretions. Whether your selling a second-hand
stove or a luxury villa, advertising a puppy for sale or looking for an
apartment to rent - 'Top Ads' are available to everyone - both Commercial
and Private advertisers. Feel free to ask!
How will I know if my request has been accepted?
We will create you a basic design relevant to your standard advert and
submit it live online automatically. You will receive an email to notify
you of this. In 'My Ads' you can view when your standard and adjoining 'top
ad' it is due to expire.
How long will my 'top ad' be displayed?
Your 'top ad' will be displayed from the submission of the 'top ad and
will expire when your standard advert expires. Because your 'top ad' is
adjoining to your standard ad, when you renew, edit or delete your standard
advert, the 'top ad' will be displayed accordingly.
How do I exchange a link with you?
Please fill out the 'Exchange Link Top Ad' form. You can find this form
by clicking 'create a top ad' located in the 'Top Ad' columns on the right-hand-side
of all pages or by selecting the 'advertise here' box advert. Your contact
details and web address will automatically be completed on this form. The
Editor will look at your proposed site and contact you accordingly. We will
inform you even if we do not feel your site is suitable to advertise our
link.
What should I watch out for?
Be careful when meeting sellers at their home. Most private advertisers
sell their goods from home. Always ensure you take someone with you. If
you're answering a home service ad, ask the advertiser to produce identity
and proof before inviting them into your home.
Once you have bought an item from a private seller, you have no legal comeback
if it turns out to be faulty. Therefore, check the goods thoroughly before
handing over the money.
If travel is involved in the transaction, always remember to write down
the contact details of the people you are visiting, or the people who are
visiting you. If, for whatever reason, you are unable to make the appointment,
notify them in advance.
Has someone been using my personal details?
It's difficult to answer this question without more information. However,
if your details are appearing in an ad that you didn't place, please contact

Stolen Goods
If you have reason to believe that items advertised through this site were
stolen, please contact your local Police Station. You'll find contact details
for your area in the phone book and the Police will be able to advise you
on the correct course of action to employ.
